LED Plants Grow Lights Buying Tips

If you want to grow plants, but live in an area with limited natural light, LED grow lights for herbs are an option.

In some regions where long winters are possible, plants have difficulty growing due to their inability to photosynthesize. Your best bet is to use LED grow lights for herbs, so if you're planning to buy some, here are some tips.

Ⅰ. How to choose LED grow lights for herbs?

1. What kind of plants do you grow?

Before buying indoor grow lights, you must know what you are going to use them for. Since the main purpose of grow lights is to provide light that plants can use for photosynthesis, you need to know the type of plants you will be growing.

When you already know which plants to grow, find out in which conditions they thrive so you can supply their needs. LED grow lights for herbs may have different functions that affect plant lifespan, and different plants respond differently to various conditions.

2. How big is your planting area?

If you plan to grow plants at home, you probably won't need a ton of LED grow lights. However, if it is a large greenhouse, several units are required. You need to know the surface area so you can calculate the amount of light that should be provided.

If the surface area is large, consider using multiple units so that each plant receives enough light. Those directly under the light won't get photosynthesis problems because they will get enough light.

Ⅱ. How to judge the quality of LED plant growth lights?

LED grow lights are today's cutting-edge solutions for indoor plant growth, especially biological greenhouses. Therefore, when purchasing LED plant growth lights, you need to consider their durability, mainly three parts: lamp beads, heat dissipation, and power supply.

The construction has to be high quality, low end cheap low quality grow lights will be a waste of your investment.

In addition to being affordable, you'll want to find a device that doesn't flicker or generate too much heat. For plants to thrive, they need enough light.

So if your light is constantly on and off, the plants won't get as much light as they need. Excessive heat can not only damage the device, it can also damage the device. Poor quality construction can cause grow lights for outdoor plants to overheat.

Photosynthetically active radiation, or PAR, is light that benefits plants. It is a substitute for sunlight that plants use so they can photosynthesize. LED grow lights for herbs can have different PAR values depending on the manufacturer. Having said that, a higher PAR value doesn't necessarily mean a better bulb.

LED grow lights can overheat, especially if you use them at least 15 hours a day to provide enough light for your plants, so your LED plants grow lights should have an efficient cooling system.

The heat in the LED bulb happens at the back, so there should be a heat sink in that area. It dissipates heat so it doesn't overheat equipment or plants.

With so many different brands making a wide variety of variants, it can be difficult to choose an LED grow light. Each product will have various features that may or may not benefit different users.

The best you'll probably find is the one that offers dimmable light. Dimmable LED grow lights are very effective because you can adjust them according to your needs.

You can set a schedule for when to turn your LED grow lights on and off, so you don't have to do it manually. Some even let you adjust the intensity and spectrum of light to suit the plants you're growing.

LED grow lights are not cheap. Regular LED bulbs for home lighting are not as cheap as incandescent or fluorescent lamps, so you can expect them to cost a lot for LED plants grow lights that can provide life to your plants.

While you may be able to find cheaper variants of LED grow lights, consider whether it's really worth it. Sometimes cheap doesn't always save you money because of poor quality, which may even cost you more on repairs or replacements. Therefore, always choose the product with the highest value.
